LUDHIANA, Nov 17: Punjab Education Minister Tota Singh has announced that a memorial would be built at Sarabha village, the native place of Kartar Singh Sarabha, who sacrificed his life during the freedom struggle at the age of 18.

Addressing a gathering to mark the martyrdom day at Sarabha village, about 25 km from here, last evening, he said the Rs 1.10-crore memorial would house a museum and a library. The first instalment of Rs 10 lakh has already been released.

Tota Singh claimed that the present government had chalked out a comprehensive plan to divert the youth from agriculture towards industries by setting up industrial focal points along the existing rural focal points.

Agriculture Minister Gurdev Singh Badal and SAD MLA Jagdish Singh Garcha also paid homage to the martyr.
