VADODARA, May 19: The Western India Regional Council (WIRC) of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) will organise a two-day WIRC Regional Conference on the theme `India Incorporated in the 21st Century’ on May 22 and 23 at Hotel Surya Palace.
Announcing this at a press conference on Tuesday, WIRC Chairman Hemant Bhatt said, “The 21st century with its changing economic environment and laws will be a challenge to our professionals. We have planned this conference to help them comprehend the new role of the corporate sector in the 21st century and keep pace with the changing trade and industrial scenario.”
Chairman of the Vadodara chapter of the WIRC R M Kapadia pointed out that globalisation had ushered in certain modifications in the legal implication of the economy and also introduced newer techniques to cope with the international market. “We want to call to attention the fact that spin-offs instead of mergers are also developing in the wake of this transformation,” he added.
Topics including `Corporate Re-engineering – Management Aspects and Legal Aspects’, `Alternate Disputes Redressal’, `International Trade Challenges and Opportunities’, `Foreign Exchange Management’ and `Road Map to Capital Account Convertibility’ will be discussed at the conference.
The conference will be inaugurated by Mayor Ratilal Desai on May 22 and will commence at 9.30 am. Among others, Managing director of Gujarat Industries Power Company Limted (GIPCL) J N Singh and District and Sessions Judge K G Thaker will be present in the function. Expert faculties including Justice Jhunjhunwala, eminent economist Manu Shroff, former deputy governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) S Tarapore, among others, will address the delegates, arriving from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Diu, Daman, Goa and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
