Former Uttaranchal revenue minister Harak Singh Rawat, charged by the CBI with rape in the unwed mother scandal, has threatened to start a fast unto death from November 1 to press for his demand for sacking of the state police chief.
Rawat has also demanded action against former chief secretary Madhukar Gupta for allegedly conspiring to defame him. Rawat claims that his DNA test has been negative. ‘‘I have come to know from CBI sources that the DNA test report is negative, proving my innocence,’’ he said. Rawat had resigned from the Cabinet on June 18 following allegations by an Assamese girl that he is the father of her son.
