CHANDIGARH, March 31: A typical Punjabi cuisine awaits the players of both the Pakistan and Indian teams before and after the match, irrespective of the turnout for tomorrow’s one-day cricket tie at the PCA Stadium. While Idli-sambhar, vegetarian and chicken sandwiches and fresh fruits would be served to them as pre-dinner, the players would have only fresh fruits, electrol and glucose during the match.

For the lunch and dinner of players of both teams, Murgh Tariwala, Mutton Roganjosh, Aloo Dum Benarsi and Paneer Makhni awaits them, besides Gobi Muttar, Dal Bukhara, Steamed Rice, Assorted Indian breads, curd and naan/chapatis. Garden fresh salads, pinache salad and Beansprout salad would also be served. For the visiting Pakistanis, however, `halaal’ meat would be served.

Lala invited
Among the PCA invitees for the match was former Indian skipper Lala Amarnath, who arrived by the evening Shatabdi Express in the city.

Inaugurated
Members of the Pakistan cricket team, led by their coach Javed Miandad inaugurated the `Timesbank Square’ at the Times Bank office in Sector 8. An island is being maintened by the bank.

Miandad complimented the bank for their effort and said that it will be a symbol of Indo-Pak friendship in the City.

The players interacted with and signed autographs for the bank’s customers.

Meanwhile, some team members, including Miandad and skipper Wasim Akram, visited their favourite `haunt’ in the city — Aroma Coffee Shop — last night. Some members of the team also went on shopping spreein Sector 17.

Football camp
The Punjab Women’s Football Association has selected thirty probables for the forthcoming national women’s football championship to be held at Shillong from April 30.

According to a press release, selection trials were held recently at Jalandhar at HMV College.

Coaching camp will also be organised from April 11 at HMV College ground under the aegis of PWFA and Punjab Sports Department.
