MUMBAI, OCT 12: Pune shuttlers cornered glory winning as many as four singles, three doubles and one team championship title at the recently-concluded Maharashtra State and inter-district junior badminton championship at Aurangabad.

Pune’s sub-junior girls team pipped Mumbai Suburban District Badminton Association (MSDBA) 2-1 after Thane junior boys, MSDBA junior girls and Nagpur sub-junior boys took the titles beating Pune teams in the final.

In the individual event Pune’s Kranti Sane won the junior girls title. Manasi Bhave (sub-junior girls), Aditi Mutatkar (midget girls) and Mudra Dahinje (mini girls) were the other champions from Pune.

Midget: Yash Wagh (Nsk)/Rohit Sadani (MS) bt Aditya Dikshit/Ashish Kulkarni (MS) 15-10, 9-15, 17-14.

Junior girls: Madhura Bhagwat (Pune)/Nupura Bhide (MS) bt Neha Gangolli (GM)/Krani Sane (Pune) 8-15, 15-10, 15-11. Sub-junior: Dhanya Nair/Manasi Bhave (Pune) bt Shivani Mayekar/Deepti Paranjape (MS) 17-14, 15-3.Midget girls: Shipi Kankane/Sayali Gokale (Pune) bt Swati Khare/Riddhi Panjwani (Tha) 15-10, 9-15, 17-14.

Mary’s champs

St Mary’s High School SSC (Mazgaon) won their second successive MSSA-Colgate Inter-school under-8 football competition at the School Sports Centre today.

They defeated Our Lady of Perpetual Succor (Chembur) 2-0 with Reon Mendes scoring both goals.

Holy Family (Andheri) took the third spot with a 1-0 win over St Xavier’s (Fort), Ronwil Mendonca scoring the lone goal.

Under-10 final: St Mary’s High School (SSC) 2 (Reon Mendes 2) bt Our Lady of Perpetual Succor (Chembur) 0. Third place: Holy Family (Andheri) 1 (Ronwil Mendonca) bt St Xavier’s (Fort) 0.

Under-8 semi-finals: St Stanislaus (Bandra) A 2 (Gavin Paes) bt St Anne’s (Orlem) 0; St Xavier’s (Fort) 3 (Galighar D’Souza hat-trick) bt St Mary’s (ISC) A 0.

Andrew’s top

St Andrew’s (Bandra) topped in the Junior Inter-College football tournament with nine points to grab theLokhandwala Trophy.

They defeated Siddharth 4-0 in their league last match while Khalsa took second spot with four points after drawing goalless with St Xavier’s.

St Andrew’s 4 (Shaun D’Souza 2, Marshal Mathais, Jaizinho Sieiro) bt Siddharth Arts and Science 0; Khalsa 0 drew St Xavier’s 0.
