PUNE, July 11: All public transport facilities in Maharashtra will observe a one-day bandh on July 20, declared Nitin Pawar, General Secretary of the Maharashtra Rajya Autorickshaw Joint Action Committee, today.

At a meet attended by over 1,000 members of the Rickshaw Panchayat, Pune division, with representatives from Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur, chaired by Dr Baba Adhav, it was decided that no talks will be held with the State Government unless the May 13 ’99 notification granting permission to maxicabs to ply in the State was not withdrawn before July 20, said Pawar.

Their other demands include cancellation of the May 31 ’99 notification making electronic meters compulsory for taxis and rickshaws, and the bar on the plying of rickshaws and taxis more than nine years old and buses more than 10 years old, said Adhav, chairman of the Rickshaw Panchayat, Pune.
