CHANDIGARH, June 1: Non-teaching employees of Punjab University today organised a rally on the campus to protest the non-implementation of their demands. The employees also decided not to perform any additional and part-time examination work in the administrative block.
According to PU Non-Teaching Employees Federation president Dharam Paul Sharma, a rally will also be organised at 1.30 pm tomorrow. Meanwhile, the executive body of the federation also held an emergency meeting today.
The employees regretted that no meeting of the Joint Consultative Machinery (JCM) had been held in the past six months. Sharma said the meeting had been fixed twice but was postponed on both the occasions. A representation signed by nearly 450 employees also demanded revision of over-time allowance and revision of Common Entrance Test (CET) rates, besides others. The federation is also demanding amenities like proper lighting, cooling facilities and drinking water in the administrative block.
