With the 2010 Commonwealth Games inching closer,Union Sports Minister M S Gill said on Thursday that he is “worried” as there is “huge job” yet to be done before the quadrennial sporting extravaganza.
“We are more concerned and more worried because there is a huge job to be done,” Gill said at a conference ‘Delhi: A World Class City in the Making’ organised by the CII in New Delhi.
However,Gill hoped that the “great challenge” of putting the huge infrastructure on place will be met on time with the collective effort by all the agencies concerned.
On security,he said authorities are doing their best to ensure a safe Games in October next year.
“Home Minister P Chidambaram and Lt Governor (Tejinder Khanna) are also working on it. We are working and it will be delivered,” he said.
Gill said around 35,000 volunteers, mainly school and college students associated with NCC,NSS and Delhi University will be trained for the Commonwealth Games.
