Miandad refuses PCB job

Islamabad: PCB’s decision to appoint former Test captain Javed Miandad as batting and fielding consultant with the national team has run into trouble as Miandad is not willing to accept the terms and conditions of his contract as batting consultant. The PCB recently made an offer to Miandad to take over as batting and fielding consultant of the Pakistan cricket team on the upcoming tour to New Zealand,but wanted him to work under the supervision of head coach Waqar Younis.

Kamran claims ICC clearance

Karachi: Ignored by the selectors for the New Zealand Tour,Pakistan stumper-batsman Kamran Akmal has claimed that he had got clearance from the ICC to play anywhere and for any team. Selectors on Tuesday dropped senior batsman Mohammed Yousuf and ignored Kamran and Shoaib Malik for the intial Twenty20 and Test series against New Zealand. There are doubts if Kamran has links with bookmakers and the PCB’s decision is linked to that,the sources had revealed.

Farhat to sue Majeed

Islamabad: Pakistan opener Imran Farhat has decided to serve a legal notice on Mazhar Majeed,the London based Pakistani bookmaker,who has in another video named Farhat as four more players involved in spot-fixing. “I just don’t know what to say neither is he my agent nor have I ever been involved in such things,” Farhat said. “His claims have really upset me because I have always played clean cricket,” Farhat said.

Bravo,Smith help WI recover

: Darren Bravo hit an unbeaten 63 on Wednesday and added 115 runs for the second wicket with Devon Smith as West Indies recovered to post 134-2 against Sri Lanka in the third and final Test. The tourists lost Chris Gayle to the first ball of the match,leaving the 21-year old Bravo to face the second ball of the West Indian innings. But Bravo hit his third half-century of the series to help West Indies recover on a day hit by rain and bad light at the new 30,000 cricket stadium near the central city of Kandy.

Arbitrator steps down

New Delhi: The arbitrator in the case between the BCCI and the Kings’ XI Punjab,Justice BN Srikrishna,has withdrawn from the case after disclosing to both parties that he represented the Wadia Group,part owners of the KXIP,in many of their cases,in the past,espncricinfo.com reported. “I disclosed to the BCCI today that I was defence counsel for the Wadia Group,” Justice Srikrishna said. “They said I couldn’t continue,I said that was fine with me.” The news comes a day after Srikrishna delivered an interim order in another case involving the BCCI,granting a stay on the expulsion of Rajasthan Royals. He said today’s development would not have any bearing on the Rajasthan case. — Agencies
