Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi stunned top seeds Lukasz Kubot and Oliver Marach in straight sets to storm into the doubles final of the Valencia Open. The Indo-Belarusian partner recorded a 7-6(3) 6-4 win in the semi-finals. They will now play the British pair of Andy and Jamie Murray,who beat Mark Lopez and David Marrero 7-5 6-2 in the other semi-final.

In the men’s draw,David Ferrer set up the summit clash against Spanish compatriot Marcel Granollers when he upset second seed Robin Soderling 6-3 3-6 6-3. Granollers,playing in the main draw as a lucky loser from the qualifying rounds,held his nerve to beat former world number six Gilles Simon of France 6-4 6-4.

Ivanovic wins title

Ana Ivanovic secured a return to the top 20 as a 6-2 7-6 win over Alisa Kleybanova in the final of the Tournament of Champions Sunday earned the former world number one a second tournament victory in three events. The 2008 French Open champion,who slumped to 65th in the rankings in July,will rise back up to 17th after closing out her season with a remarkable reversal in fortunes. That ranking remains a far cry from the top spot the Serb held for 12 weeks following her Roland Garros victory but after ending her season on a sustained high note she has reason for optimism heading into 2011.

Atwal ends tied 48th

Arjun Atwal went over-par for a second successive day,carding a 74 in the final round,to drop 10 rungs and sign off tied 48th in the WGC – HSBC Champions golf tournament. Atwal totalled of three-over 291. Italian Francesco Molinari clinched the title by a stroke after a second successive 67 left his overall score at 19-under 269. England’s Lee Westwood finished second after returning a 67 in the final round.

No more delays: Munda

Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda on Sunday assured that there would not be any more postponement of the National Games. The Games have been postponed seven times since 2007. “We will hold the Games positively,” he said.
