Sikkim boy to ski for India in Special Olympic Games

Jiwan Mishra,an 18 year-old athlete from Sikkim,would represent the country in the Special Olympics Winter Games.

Jiwan Mishra,an 18 year-old athlete from Sikkim,would represent the country in the Special Olympics World Winter Games,which will be held in the USA in February.

Mishra,a native of Namthang in South District,will participate in the alpine skiing event during the tournament,Manita Pradhan,president of Special Olympics Bharat,Sikkim chapter,said.

The young athlete will take part in a week-long training at Narkanda in Himachal Pradesh from January 24,before leaving for the US on February 3.

The Special World Winter Games would be held at Boise in Idaho from February 7 to 13,she said.

Mishra is the second athlete from Sikkim to represent the country in the international event after Nirmal Dahal,who won a gold medal in the last special Olympics in Shanghai.
