When Marat Safin announced his decision to quit tennis,he made a point of stressing how much he was looking forward to resuming a normal life,away from the tour. But staying true to his unpredictable self,the Russian announced his return to the sport on Wednesday.

He will make his debut on the senior tennis circuit known as the Champions Series tour next month at the 2010 Rio Champions Cup.

The Rio Champions Cup will be the opening event on the 2010 Champions Series circuit and will feature $150,000 in total prize money,with the singles champion earning $60,000.

It will be an interesting change to be one of the young guys on the tour again and I look forward to playing in front of the Brazilian tennis fans, he said.
