Prakash Amritraj entered Chennai Opens singles main draw after a hard fought win in the third and final qualifying round but giant-killer Yuki Bhambri fell at the last hurdle despite putting up a valiant fight here today.

Amritraj, barred from representing India in international events because of his US passport, defeated Lars Poerschke 7-6 (5) 6-3 after a two-hour battle against the German.

Amritraj thus joined Indian Davis Cuppers Somdev Devvarman and Rohan Bopanna in the main draw. Both Somdev and Bopanna were handed wild cards to compete in the USD 398,250 hard court event.

However,Yuki suffered a heart-breaking 2-6 7-6(8) 6-2 defeat against Louk Sorensen of Ireland in the third round match, which lasted two hour and 25 minutes.

Yuki had stunned top seed and world number 120 Illya Marchenko yesterday.
