Kapil Dev hits out at BCCI for victimising players joining ICL

Former Indian Cricket team captain Kapil Dev lashed out at BCCI in the Delhi High Court.

Former Indian Cricket team captain Kapil Dev today lashed out at BCCI in the Delhi High Court saying that it has put pressure on public sector undertakings (PSUs) and other organisations for taking punitive action against players joining its rival Indian Cricket League (ICL).

The former all rounder, however, said that the Board has never been disrespectful to him as a cricketer before and after retirement.

Kapil made the remark while appearing before Registrar of Delhi High Court,Pawan Kumar Jain, for cross examination by the Board on his allegations for taking punitive actions against former cricketers who have joined ICL.

The former cricketer in his affidavit had alleged that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was neglecting former cricketers who served the nation and is taking punitive action by stopping their pension and other post-retirement benefits.

It is incorrect to say that the BCCI has not put any pressure on PSUs and other organisations in respect of their employees who have joined ICL. They (former players) are under pressure, Kapil said.
