McLaren Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he will not quit the team as long as they give him a championship winning car.
Hamiltons future with the team is in doubt after he held a meeting with Red Bull chief Christian Horner in Canada last weekend.
As long as we have the car that can do the job,then there will be no reason to leave. We are the only other team that has won Grands Prixs this year so I dont see why you would particularly want to move when you have the most competitive car, The Sun quoted Hamilton,as saying.
I am just very fortunate to be a part of McLaren. Its one of the best teams there is,with a great history – and weve now got a car which is capable of winning,as my team-mate showed at the weekend, he added.
Hamilton had scored his first title success three seasons ago having almost become world champion in his rookie year of 2007. Since then,the 26-year-old has found the going rather tougher.
He finished fifth in the 2009 drivers championship after McLaren overcame a difficult start to the season and was fourth in the standings last year,despite remaining a title challenger until the final race. There are rumours that he could move on if he does not regain his crown this year.
