Confusion over Modis nomination

Even as uncertainty continues over the fate of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) elections, with the Supreme Court to hear the matter tomorrow,58 nominations were filed on Thursday for the various posts of the state cricket body. With the 58 nominations, election officer R C Jain has received 61 nominations, including one on behalf of current RCA president Lalit Modi.

An unknown person submitted a form on behalf of Modi and left in a hurry without taking the receipt.

As far as the nomination of Lalit Modi is concerned,an unknown person came in with a form and left without taking the receipt. As per the rules, any of the three persons one,who is the candidate, two who proposes and third who seconds the name should be present at the time of filing the nomination.

It was not done so we will decide about its validity after the scrutiny process on Friday, Jain said.

There were no other nominations from Modis group. The rival faction, led by current secretary Subhas Joshi, also submitted their nominations for the election, slated for February 22.

Strangely, the names of former secretary Kishore Rungta and deputy president Bimal Soni did not figure in the nominations.

The fate of RCA elections depends upon the verdict of the Supreme Court on Friday. The ADJ court in Jaipur will also hear the matter on Saturday.
