SAMAJWADI Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav today joined hands with the Left and some regional parties to demand an inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court Judge into the allocation of coal blocks. On the other hand,the parties also tried to isolate the BJP by protesting against the continued disruption of Parliament.
Taking the lead in uniting non-NDA parties which are opposed to the BJPs strategy,Mulayam,whose party supports the UPA government from outside,today met Left and TDP leaders. Our party,along with CPI,CPI(M) and TDP decided to stage a dharna in front of Parliament tomorrow to demand an inquiry into the coal block allocation scam by a sitting Supreme Court Judge, he said.
The Left leaders claimed that AIADMK and BJP members would also join them. Unhappy that the issue has been turned into a direct fight between the BJP and the government,the parties are seeking a debate in Parliament.
We want to make our voices heard. The Parliament should function and there should be a threadbare debate. At the same time,there should be a thorough inquiry into allocation of coal blocks, said CPIs D Raja.
Senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said cancellation of licences and announcement of a time-bound probe could break the current logjam in Parliament.
