Advani,Chawla out of World Snooker Championship

Pankaj Advani and Kamal crashed out in semifinals of the IBSF World Snooker Championship.

In a major upset,seven-time world champion Pankaj Advani and Kamal Chawla crashed out in the semifinals of the IBSF World Snooker Championship here today.

Advani was thrashed 1-7 by Lee Walker of Wales, while Chawla lost 2-7 to Iran’s Hossein Vafei Ayouri in one-sided encounters.

Walker played a very calculated game, not giving an opening to Advani to gain the upper hand in each of the frames, except the first, which the Indian cueist won.

Even after Advani found an opening,he could not capitalise on it and hit the ball crudely. The deftness in his earlier games were missing the Welshman.

On a high after beating former champion Thepchaiya Un-Nooh of Thailand in the last eight,giant-killer Walker crushed the local favourire Advani 68-82 61-41 69-39 115-0 85-42 67-28 108-33 73-52.

Advani claimed the first frame 82-68 despite Walker having a run of 56 break points. At 24-1 in the second, the Indian faltered to sink a blue and gave a chance to his rival to sneak past him claiming the frame 61-41 in next two visits.
