8 tankers ferrying oil to NATO troops torched in Pak

Unidentified men in Pak set on fire eight tankers ferrying vital oil supplies to US-led NATO forces in Afghanistan.

In the second such attack in just over a week,unidentified men today set on fire eight tankers ferrying vital oil supplies to US-led NATO forces in Afghanistan in the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta.

The armed men opened fire at the oil tankers and set them ablaze in Akhtarabad area of Quetta,the capital of Balochistan province,TV news channels reported. There were reports of casualties in the attack.

Convoys ferrying supplies to US and NATO forces from the southern port city of Karachi travel to the Afghan border though Balochistan. In the past,NATO convoys have also been attacked in the northwestern city of Peshawar and the adjoining tribal belt.

Earlier on August 31,militants triggered a powerful blast at the Chaman border crossing in Balochistan,destroying nearly two dozen oil tankers and containers ferrying supplies to NATO forces.
