NEW DELHI, March 11: The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has finalised the prices of 79 formulation packs on the basis of established criteria and guidelines.
Accordingly, ceiling prices have been fixed in respect of 20 formulation packs. As a new case, the ceiling price of chloroquin phos suspension of Bayer India (Tata) has been fixed at Rs 12.80 per 60 ml pack. The ceiling price of phenyl butazone (PB) sodium injection has been revised to Rs 15.12 per 5×3 ml amp and that of four PB tablets of S G Pharmaceuticals has been revised between Rs 2.00 and Rs 3.36.
Ceiling limits has also been imposed on four asabulamol CR/SR capsules of Themis Lab between Rs 5.88 to Rs 8.22. Similarly the ceiling prices of four nalidixic acid tablets of CFL Pharma has been revised between Rs 13.66 and Rs 32.10. The ceiling price dependal tablet of Smithkline Beecham has been revised at Rs 4.72 and that of furaxone tablet at Rs 1.94. The ceiling price of two metrogyl tablet of Unique Pharmaceuticals has beenrevised at Rs 6.60 and Rs 6.26. The ceiling price of metronazole and furazolidone sus has been fixed at Rs 9.22 and that of captopril tablet of Lupin Laboratories at Rs 15.22. Non-ceiling prices for 59 formulation packs have also been fixed or revised. Twelve formulations of imported drugs of Novo Nordisk has non-ceiling pricing limits.
The prices have been reduced in the case of 27 formulation packs ranging between 0.63 to 73.56 per cent whereas the prices have been increased in respect of 29 formulation packs ranging between 1.89 to 56.08 per cent. However, in respect of 15 formulation packs, mainly imported ones, there was no change in the existing price.
In the case of indigenously manufactured packs, the MAPE of 100 per cent has been allowed while fixing the maximum retail price. The packing material cost has been updated by NPPA and that has been used in arriving at the prices revised or fixed for the formulation packs.
An effort has also been made to cover a number of formulation packs underceiling prices to avoid multiplicity of prices, to the extent possible, which, in turn, shall help in effective monitoring and enforcement of prices.
The prices fixed or revised will be effective within 15 days from the date of notification in the official gazette or on receipt of the order of the NPPA by the manufacturers or the importers.
