MUMBAI, October 3: Even as the election fever for the KDMC mayoral poll on October 10 catches on, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray announced his approval of Sheru Pradhan for the mayorship at a meeting with the corporators at Matoshree today.
THe KDMC has a total floor strength of 86. Sena has 40 seats, BJP – 23, Congress – 16 and Independents – 7. The Sena and the BJP have put up the name of Pundalik Mhatre (Cong) as a consensus candidate. However, the fate of the Sena candidate with the support of 5 independents is a foregone conclusion making the polls on October 10 mere formality.
