THANJAVUR, Nov 9: In the last one year, there has been a steady increase in the black buck population at Point Calimere Wild Life Sanctuary in Nagapattinam district, resulting in a healty male-female ratio and female-fawn ratio. The sanctuary accounts for the largest population of the back buck in the southern region of the country. The increase in their number is due to the better protective measures and extensive habitats improvements over the last few years, according to Shekar Kumar Niraj, Wildlife Warden, Nagapattinam.
