Amidst the Left’s protest over the petro-products price hike by the Centre, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday cancelled his trip to Kolkata. He was scheduled to visit the city on June 12-13.
In a circular to the state government, the Centre informed that the PM had postponed his trip and a fresh schedule would be announced later.

The PM, who has visited Kolkata thrice before in the two years since the UPA came to power, was scheduled to take part in a function at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics. He was also scheduled to meet CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.
