Meanwhile, the Manpada police on Friday sought custody of Shiv Sena corporator Kailash Shinde in connection with the murder of MNS activist Gurunath Bhoir who was allegedly murdered in Pisavli village of Kalyan earlier this week. Two North Indians had also been found murdered in Pisavli.

Gurunath Bhoir was the brother of Kalyan taluka chief of the MNS, Moreshwar Bhoir.

After the Bhoir family alleged that it was personal rivalry that had led to his murder and not the MNS- North Indian clashes, Manpada police arrested Kailash Shinde. Amidst huge protests by Sena supporters, Shinde was brought to the Kalyan metropolitan court.

The prosecution argued that a complaint was lodged against Shinde just eight days before the murder. Bhoir had apparently approached the Manpada police complaining that Shinde’s men had tried to kill him, argued Prosecutor S V Kamble.

Magistrate S D Jadhav handed Shinde to police custody till October 28.
