Payyade Sports Club entered the record books by becoming the only team after Shivaji ParkYoungsters (SPY) to win all their division matches on the trot in the HD Kanga Cricket League. SPY had achieved the feat in the mid-70s when they won the ‘B’ Division title without a loss. On Sunday, Payyade drew with Parsee Gymkhana to finish on top of the table with 18 points followed by Young Maharashtra who had 12 points.
Payyade made their entry in the ‘G’ division of the Kanga League in 2002 and have remained consistent ever since.
Meanwhile Kandivali Cricket Association (16), Palghar Dahanu Taluka (15) and Parel Sporting (13) will be promoted to ‘B’ Division from the ‘C’Division next year.
