Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan has come out in support of LJP MP Surajbhan, accused in the murder of a government lawyer in Begusarai, and demanded a CBI probe into the case.
“There seems to be political conspiracy to frame our MPs in the case. Our party wants a time-bound CBI inquiry,” Paswan said. The minister said he had spoken to the Chief Minister and demanded an impartial probe. The state Government, meanwhile, has ordered a high-level probe into the incident and has refrained from arresting Surajbhan, who has been named in the complaint by the son of murdered lawyer Ram Naresh Sharma. In the FIR, he has said that his father was being intimidated by the MP’s men as he was pursuing a murder case against him.
Paswan said the murder was indicative of the worsening law and order situation in the state. He recalled his association with Sharma as a member of the erstwhile Socialist Party and expressed grief over his murder. Accused MP Surajbhan was also sitting beside Paswan and claimed innocence.
