Leader of Opposition Partha Chattopadhyay met state Minister of Commerce and Industries Nirupam Sen on Monday to find an amicable solution to the Dunlop crisis.

Sen said that Chattopadhyay has proposed a tripartite meeting between the state government, Dunlop chairman Pawan Ruia and the Opposition to resolve the issue. “I will have to first talk to Ruia to weigh all the options,” said Sen.

During the meeting, various issues related to the Sahaganj unit of Dunlop were discussed. “Mamata Banerjee also met Union Minister of Heavy Industries Santosh Mohan Deb in Delhi to discuss the issue,” said Chattopadhyay. He added it was not the time for blame game, but for concerted effort to get the factory in running condition.

“The factory no longer falls within the ambit of the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction. But the government should help the sick factory in whatever way possible,” he said. Chattopadhyay also told Sen that taking advantage of the situation, certain anti-social elements have been removing machinery from the factory.
