Pakistani police arrested 21 members of a banned Islamic militant group and recovered weapons and a satellite phone from them in a town in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP), a police officer said on Wednesday.

The members of the outlawed Harkat-ul-Mujahideen group were arrested on Tuesday, Senior Superintendent of Police, Usman Zakaria, said.

The group active in Kashmir and also involved with the Taliban in Afghanistan during their rule there, was outlawed early last year after the US declared it a terrorist organisation.
