Peeved at the demand within the coalition partner BJP to pull out from the government over the Kalinga Nagar incident, the BJD on Sunday hit back at the saffron party saying it had behaved in an ‘‘immature fashion’’.

‘‘We are particularly sad at the way BJP State President Jual Oram tried to condemn the Government in which his own party is a partner,’’ BJD Secretary General and Panchayatiraj Minister Damodar Rout said at a news conference here on Sunday.

Coming under pressure from 16 tribal MLAs from his party, Oram had blamed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the incident and led a delegation to New Delhi to apprise the BJP central leadership about the situation. However, the state unit was advised not to pull out from the Government at this juncture.
