CHENNAI, JAN 3: Reuben Paul can play for Tamil Nadu again this year. The one year ban slapped on him by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association on December 12 was revoked at an executive committee meeting of the TNCA on Saturday.

Ashok Kumbhat, TNCA secretary said that following the slapping of the ban, Paul had written to the Association pleading for clemency. The TNCA as a “humane” gesture decided to lift the ban with effect from Dec 31, 1998, which means that Paul will be eligible to play for the State in the super league matches which are scheduled to start later this month.

Kumbhat said Paul has been asked to formally send a letter of apology, which it is learnt he will send tomorrow. Paul had been pulled up for his alleged involvement in the pitch tampering case in the match between Tamil Nadu and Delhi last year.
