CHANDIGARH, April 30: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice of motion to the S.A.S. Nagar police on a petition of alleged harassment at the hands of the Superintendent of Police. The case is fixed for May 7.According to the petitioner Bahadur Singh Baidwan, a taxi-operator and owner of the Phase 7 taxi stand, the S.A.S. Nagar police impounded his two taxis without any reason.
He alleged that the police directed him to pay Rs 1.5 lakh to a woman who was earlier a partner in the taxi stand when a civil suit was already in progress between the partners, at the Kharar courts.
Baidwan alleged that the police framed him in a case of theft of a small amount of money after he refused to oblige a senior police officer posted in S.A.S. Nagar. He was arrested but was later released on bail.
Saying that his representations to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal did not yield results, he demanded an inquiry into the matter.
