SOLAN, Nov 18: The mystery surrounding the alleged murder of 24-year-old Norwegian Lindstrom Tormod continues even three days after the recovery of the body.
Meanwhile, the Nalagarh police today cremated the body of Tormod according to local rites at Nalagarh. The cremation took place in the presence of second secretary of Norwegian embassy Bjorn Mithun, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nalagarh, Rani Sachdeva and other citizens of the town as per the wishes of the parents of the deceased.
SSP M. L. Negi along with other police officers visited the place in the forest where the body had been found.
Tormod’s body was recovered by the police in the forest of Gujjar-Hatti village under Nalagarh sub-division of the district on Sunday. The body was first spotted by the local villagers who had gone to collect wood and fodder from the forest.
Meanwhile, the special police team which was sent to Delhi for investigation has not been able to gather any clues regarding the alleged murder.
The deceased had flown from Oslo on November 14 to New Delhi after boarding an Aeroflot flight. A bag, an air ticket, $ 15, clothes and a passport were recovered by the police from the place where the body was dumped.
According to ASP Himanshu Misla, Tormod had died due to asphyxia caused by strangulation. No other injury marks were found. The identity of the deceased was confirmed after the police received a fax message from the Norwegian embassy on Monday.
