Hyderabad, January 31: In the absence of Andhra Pradesh’s prodigies Pendyala Harikrishna and Koneru Humpy, the race will be between Tamil Nadu and Bengal players in the 30th Junior National Chess Championship (u-19) beginning at the Prabhat Towers here from Wednesday. The arrival of the new time control will be the interesting feature of the seven-day event.

Palik Somak, C Praveen Kumar and Mekala Abhinav are capable of springing a few surprises. The meet offers Rs 34,000 as prize money. The winner and the runner-up of this tournament will be eligible to participate in the world junior championship.
