
MUMBAI, JANUARY 6: The Nationalist Congress Party will soon get the status of the national party, said state NCP president Babanrao Pachpute.
Talking to reporters, Pachpute said that the relevant requirements of a national party have been complied with and all required papers have been sent to the Election Commission. He said that the letter of recognition from the Election Commission is awaited.
He said that he along with senior leaders have visited almost all the districts of the state and by January 18 all the 53 districts will be covered. Pachpute said that he also plans to visit all the talukas by January 31.
Pachpute said that the party held its convention at Nashik on December 25 and plans to hold conventions at Aurangabad, Nagpur, Marathwada, Konkan, Western and Northern Maharashtra and Mumbai. The party also plans to start 22 cells in areas like law and judiciary, labour, youth, etc, he added.
Pachpute said that a convention for women will be held on January 9-10 at Navi Mumbai and15,000-20,000 NCP volunteers are expected to participate. The party has also plans to organise a programme titled Swabhiman Yuva Sankalp 2000′ for the youth which will be held throughout the year, he added.
