Indian Foreign Minister K. Natwar Singh will participate in trilateral talks with his Russian and Chinese counterparts Sergei Lavrov and Li Zhavoxin, respectively, in Russia’s far east city of Vladivostok, on June 2.

The talks between the three Foreign Ministers, hosted by Russia, in a ‘standalone’ format for the first time, are expected to focus on urgent international issues, regional security and stability, especially in the Asia-Pacific region; UN Security Council reforms; and cooperation between Russia, India and China in the power industry and trade, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alexeyev said.

‘‘The three-way cooperation is to deal with issues including Iraq, Middle East conflict, Afghanistan, and the situation in the Korean peninsula,’’ he said.

He pointed out that the three Foreign Ministers would be guided by ‘‘close approaches’’ to the future development of the world, security and stability, the activity of the United Nations and its reform, the fight against terrorism and the solution of regional ethnic and religious conflicts. He said the three-party meeting in Vladivostok would be informal, and for this reason, it would not have a strict agenda. ‘‘Each of the sides has made its own proposals. Russia, India and China have something to offer,’’ Alexeyev stressed. The three Foreign Ministers are also expected to hold wide-ranging parleys within their bilateral format.

En route to Vladivostok, Natwar Singh will stop over for a day in Seoul, where he will meet South Korean Foreign Minister Ban Ki-Moon on June 1. On his way back, Singh will stopover in Hong Kong, where he will interact with the Indian Chamber of Commerce and other trade bodies.
