CHANDIGARH, Feb 24: The Punjab Government has decided to create a Nagar Panchayat for Zirakpur. The village Zirakpur will also be transferred to district Patiala from district Roopnagar.
Stating this Finance Minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh stated that the Department of Local Government would issue a notification to invite objections within a fortnight from residents of the villages falling under the proposed Nagar Panchayat. After considering the various objections, the department would issue a notification regarding the establishment of the Nagar Panchayat.
The villages to be incorporated in the Nagar Panchayat are Lohgarh, Himatgarh, Bishangarh, Baltana, Zirakpur, Dhakoli, Nabha Sahib and Bishanpura.
