‘Muslim League’s stand on nuclear deal unclear’

The Indian Union Muslim League was "unable" to adopt a clear stand on the Indo-US nuclear deal issue, said PDP Chairman Abdul Nasser Madani.

The Indian Union Muslim League was “unable” to adopt a clear stand on the Indo-US nuclear deal issue, PDP Chairman Abdul Nasser Madani said on Thursday. “The League is adopting double standards on such a serious issue”, he said at the PDP’s state Secretariat meeting in Khozikode.

The League should either come out of the UPA to register its protest against signing the deal or openly support the stand taken by the Centre, he said, adding it was quite unfortunate that the League, claiming to represent the minorities, was still unable to adopt a “clear” stand on the issue.

Noting that the nuclear deal issue did not relate to the minorities alone, Madani, however, said the community had every right to agitate against it.

The PDP would soon carry out a state wide campaign against the `double standards’ of the League on the issue, he said. It would also campaign against the nuclear deal, he added.
