PANCHKULA, AUG 23: The Shivalik Vikas Manch organised a "chetna rally" at Morni Hills yesterday. The rally which was as attended by thousands of people gave the political leaders of various parties including the BJP, Congress and the Janata Dal a chance to present their views before the general public.

Giving this information today, an official of the Manch said this rally proved that the Shivalik Vikas Manch is a non-political organisation. The rally had been organised to highlight the issue of election boycott by the people of Morni. General secretary of the Manch, Ravi Sharma, apprised the people of their legal rights and said their decision to boycott elections was the best way to show their resentment over the indifferent attitude adopted towards their repetitive representation of their grievances. Sadhu Ram Saini, president of the Manch, urged the people to maintain a united front on the boycott issue.

The leaders who spoke on the occasion included Pawan Kumar Bansal of BJP, Kanak Rekha of Congress and Balwant Singh of Janata Dal.
