After the MMS scandal in New Delhi, students of a teachers’ training institute got embroiled in a similar situation in Chhotaudepur taluka of Vadodara district.
The incident took place at Primary Teacher’s Training Institute Hostel in Chhotaudepur town last week. A girl used her camera phone to capture images of her hostelmate taking a bath, then sent the 10-second clip to her boyfriend through MMS. The boy forwarded the MMS to some more friends.
When authorities at the institute learnt of the matter, they summoned the parents of the girl who sent the clip. Sources said the girl was removed from the rolls, but was taken back after her parents pleaded with the authorities.
Hostel head Aniruddh Patel said: ‘‘We believe the act was not deliberate. The girl was removed from the institute, then taken back after we spoke to her parents.’’ He added this was a ‘one-off affair’ which had nothing to do with the reputation of the institute. ‘‘It does not reflect on the character of the girls. It must have been a mistake.’’
