Taking a cue from Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Thursday decided to enforce a power cut in her Kalighat house as well as the party’s headquarters in Topsia from Friday.
Announcing this, Mamata said power will be switched off for two hours in both the places from 4 to 6 pm.
“The Governor has set a glorious example by introducing voluntary power cuts and we will follow suit. The Governor’s action has highlighted the dismal power situation in the state and the suffering of the people,” the Trinamool leader said in Midnapore.
Meanwhile, the self-imposed power cuts continued at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. “The schedule may be altered when guest are staying here. But the power cut will continue till the Governor reviews the situation and decides otherwise,” his press secretary Dhruba Basu told The Indian Express.
