Two Years after the May 9, 2003 murder of pregnant poetess Madhumita Shukla, charges were framed against former Uttar Pradesh Minister Amar Mani Tripathi, his wife Madhumani alongwith Rohit Chaturvedi, Prakash Chandra Pandey and Santosh Rai.
Judge Shiv Charan Sharma read out the charges to which the accused pleaded “not guilty”. The court fixed November 5 for further hearing. They were charged under various IPC sections pertaining to murder, criminal conspiracy, destroying evidence, abetment to offence, common intention and wrongful confinement.
