DR. S. Ramadoss, chief of the Pattali Makkal Katchi, an ally of the UPA, was arrested on Monday for trying to lock up a government-run liquor shop in a village near his home town, Tindivanam.
The PMK leader, who is opposing the ruling ADMK’s decision to open liquor shops, marched with the party’s women cadre to the Kondamur village and tried to shut the outlet. The police stopped him and took him in custody. He was released later. —(PTI)
