PATNA, May 9: Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav today pulled off a silent coup by engineering a split in the Bihar Janata Dal and won over its state party president Ramai Ram and seven other MLAs.
"The family members have been reunited," Laloo said. "Our main aim is to fight the communal and fascist forces which of late have been very active."

The JD has an effective strength of 27 MLAs in the 324-member Assembly. Today’s split, therefore, fails to conform with the one-third requirement of the anti-defection law.
