PUNE, Nov 30: Kolhapur District overcame an initial challenge to defeat Solapur District 19-16, 16-10 and clinch the seniors title in the 22nd Maharashtra State Shooting Ball Championship organised by the Vandevi Sports Mandal at Karve Nagar.
Amjad Jailer and Sadashiv Mane of Kolhapur shared the credit equally, displaying some fine shooting and punching with perfect use of their feet. Their game plan of placing the ball accurately paid off and helped them garner valuable points. Aslam Mujawar and Revappa Gurav of Solapur, however, could not maintain the same standard with which they played against hosts Pune in the semi-finals.
Ahmednagar District eves lifted the women’s title registering a 16-10, 16-15 win over Nasik in the finals while Solapur District lifted the mens juniors section title as they defeated Kolhapur District 16-12, 16-14. Earlier, Solapur District had managed a very comprehensive win over Satara Distrit 16-5, 16-6 as well as Nasik District 16-10, 16-12.
Rajendra Ghumatkar and Anil Ratnaparkhi from Pune District have been selected for the forthcoming State Shooting Ball championship.
