It will be another Diwali without lights for families of Punjab’s ‘‘missing’’ as the National Human Rights Commission yesterday put off the date of hearing for compensation cases till October 28.
NHRC chairman Justice A.S. Anand had asked lawyers, appearing for Punjab Police and victims’ families, to facilitate a pre-Diwali announcement of compensation. However, the two sides failed to reach a settlement.
