TOKYO, DECEMBER 15: Japanese government today said although it has decided to end all sanctions against North Korea, food shipments were not to move immediately. The shipments of food would depend on results of initial talks with North Korea, a Japanese government statement said here. "The government has decided to lift the measures (sanctions) that it took in response to North Korea’s missile launching in August last year," Japanese cabinet affairs minister Mikio Aoki said here.

"…It does not mean that Japan will begin normalisation talks or extend food and other forms of assistance immediately," Aoki said.

The Government of Japan would make judgement from a comprehensive perspective on what concrete measures it would take after carefully watching the development of preliminary talks and North Korea’s responses to it, the minister said.
