After months of speculation and open displays of star-powered affection, US diva Jennifer Lopez and movie heartthrob Ben Affleck have become engaged to be married, reports said.
Entertainment television channel ET quoted sources close to the glamour couple as saying yesterday they had agreed to marry and that Lopez would make an announcement in an on-air US television interview next week.
New York-born Lopez, known as J-Lo, dropped hints that marriage may be on the cards during an MTV programme yesterday.
When asked whether she and Pearl Harbor star Affleck would get engaged, she said: ‘‘You’ve got me in a corner. I can’t just look you in the eye and give you the runaround.’’ The duo became firm friends while working together on a film called Gigli last December, and went public with their romance in July. Since then they have been inseparable, kissing in public and offering each other diamonds and Bentley cars as presents.
