The Centre signed an agreement with Russia on Thursday on the transfer of licence and technical documentation for the production of AL-55I engines for the IJT programme.

The pact was signed at the Presidential Chalet during the MAKS-05, the Moscow Air Show. According to a HAL release, the engine will be developed by NPO Saturn and produced by UMPO. HAL will produce the engines under licence at its Koraput plant.
