India and Zambia inked a trade agreement and signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in agriculture while visiting Zambian President Levy Patrick Mvanawasa extended his country’s support to New Delhi’s candidature for a permanent seat in the UN Security Council.
Mvanawasa, who arrived in New Delhi today, held discussions with the Prime Minister. Both countries agreed to promote cooperation in agriculture and the food processing industry. The MoU seeks to encourage cooperation in agricultural science and technology and activities in agricultural research, soil conservation, water management, pest control and dairy development.
Giving in to a long-pending Indian demand for a liberal visa regime, the visiting President also promised that the Zambian embassy would be given the right to issue visas.
