Taking forward the India-Pakistan composite dialogue process initiated in January, both countries have finalised the dates for holding secretary-level talks on Siachen, terrorism and drug-trafficking and the Sir Creek among other issues.
While Islamabad will be hosting the home secretary level talks on terrorism and drug-trafficking, New Delhi will be the venue for the rest of the talks. Under the third round of composite dialogue initiated by the Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan in January, talks have already been held on peace and security, including the confidence building measures (CBMs) and Jammu and Kashmir-Economic and Commercial Cooperation.
The two-day talks on Siachen will be held in New Delhi on May 23 and 24.
The Indian delegation will be led by Defence Secretary Shekhar Dutt while the Pakistani team will be headed by Lt Gen (Rtd) Tariq W Ghazni, secretary of Defence.
Talks on the Sir Creek are scheduled for the next two days in New Delhi. Major General M Gopal Rao, Surveyor General of India, would lead the Indian side; the Pakistan delegation for the talks would be led by Admiral Ahsan-ul-Haq Chaudhri, Additional Secretary, Defence.
The Home Secretary level talks on terrorism and drug-trafficking are scheduled for May 30 and 31 in Islamabad followed by talks between Culture Secretaries of India and Pakistan on promotion of friendly exchanges on February 1 and 2.
